The Secret to Success

I first encountered Eric Thomas as a guest of Gary Vaynerchuk on the Ask Gary Vee show. That led me to watch a number of Eric Thomas' inspirational videos. And then I was lucky enough to see him speak in person at the Curaytor Excellence conference in Austin, Texas in October 2017. WOW! Eric Thomas is an amazing public speaker. He mesmerized the audience of several thousand. Myself and many others were deeply moved. He reached us. 

Recently, I read Eric Thomas' autobiography, The Secret to Success (2011). The book itself would have benefitted from a better editor. The pivotal event in Eric's early life - leaving home - is not entirely fleshed out. Nor is his reconciliation with his parents. That being said, there are a lot of nuggets in this book that made me glad I read it. Consider these quotes from Eric Thomas in the book:

"I once heard a wise man say, 'If you find yourself in a hole, the worst thing you can do is keep digging.'"

"No one fails alone, and no one succeeds alone."

"If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you have always gotten. There will never be a perfect time or perfect situation in your life to do something you should have done a long time ago. At some point we have to stop making excuses and. . . JUST DO IT."

Eric Thomas - ET - hails from Detroit. I myself grew up in suburban Detroit. I admire the man and his commitment to helping others succeed.
