3 Things in Cambridge + Somerville

I. East Cambridge Exploration

History Cambridge has chosen to explore the East Cambridge neighborhood in depth throughout 2025, continuing their tradition of focusing on one of Cambridge's thirteen neighborhoods each year. I myself have explored East Cambridge by taking many photo walks in the neighborhood. There's always something new to discover.

II. Lovestruck Books

Lovestruck Books is a new 5,000-square-foot romance-focused bookstore that opened in December 2024 in Harvard Square at 44 Brattle Street. It features the George Howell Coffee Cafe, marking a return to Harvard Square for Howell, who started The Coffee Connection in the same area 50 years ago.

III. Somerville Community Path

The Somerville Community Path connects Davis Square to Boston through a 3.2-mile (5.1 km) paved rail trail.

Starting Point: The path begins at the Alewife Linear Park at the Cambridge/Somerville border, near Alewife Station.

Davis Square: The path runs through Davis Square, a popular neighborhood in Somerville.

Green Line Integration: From Davis Square, the path continues alongside the Green Line Extension, passing by new stations such as Magoun Square, East Somerville, and Gilman Square.

East Cambridge: The path extends to East Cambridge, terminating near the Lechmere MBTA station.

Boston Connection: At its eastern end, the path connects to Paul Revere Park in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood, providing access to the Charles River paths.

2 Real Estate Reflections - Charles Cherney

I. What is an Off-Market Listing?

II. Favorite Listing

I am often asked to name my favorite listing of my real estate career. It has been my good fortune to list many fine properties over the years in Cambridge and Somerville, and picking just one isn't easy. That being said, it's hard to argue with the choice of 6 Donnell Street in Cambridge. I listed and sold this luxury home in 2017 for developer John Kennedy, after his meticulous whole house renovation and expansion at this address. It's a truly marvelous home.
