Pocket Parks

For the first time, twenty-one small "pocket parks” scattered through the City of Cambridge are identified and celebrated in a new publication – Discover Cambridge Pocket Parks.

Defined simply as under-an-acre open spaces with trees, plantings, and a place to sit, their primary purpose is respite and repose, rather than recreation. Cambridge pocket parks are small green oases in our City’s urban landscape.

As it happens, there is a pocket park – Elm and Hampshire Plaza – at the end of our street. We love our pocket park!

II. New Zoning

Members of the Cambridge City Council voted 8–1 to dramatically revise zoning rules by eliminating single-family zones throughout the city. The change eliminates single-family and two-family restriction zones while allowing townhomes and buildings of up to four stories in all locations and up to six stories on lots larger than 5,000 square feet.
