Meet Me at Cambridge Parkway on the Charles
Cambridge Parkway is a quiet one-way street on the Charles River in East Cambridge, tucked behind big and busy Land Boulevard.
Cambridge Parkway begins just beyond Broad Canal and ends just short of Lechmere Canal. It really feels like a place apart.
Front and center is the Charles River. The expansive view of the Charles – and Boston beyond – is breathtaking.
A sidewalk and bike path span the entire length of Cambridge Parkway, affording pedestrians and cyclists a super view all along the way.
There is very little automobile traffic on Cambridge Parkway. Undoubtedly, this is part of its appeal. The parkway belongs largely to pedestrians.
Located on the Northern end of Cambridge Parkway is the Royal Sonesta Boston Hotel. This 400-room hotel features a pool and the Art Bar – a wonderful indoor-outdoor bar on the Parkway. I love sitting outside at Art Bar on a summer night. Views of the boats at Charlesgate Yacht Club and the River and Boston are hard to beat. It really is a unique locale with a truly special vibe.
Further down Cambridge Parkway is Front Street Park, located within a larger green space known as Charles Park. Nice place to sit on a park bench and enjoy the view.
Also on Cambridge Parkway is The Esplanade, a concierge elevator building. The distinctive design features two L-shaped towers sitting on a three-story base.
