Harvard Book Store is located at 1256 Massachusetts Avenue in Harvard Square, across the street from Harvard University.  Locally owned and independently run, Harvard Book Store has been around since 1932.

I have been lucky enough to visit some of great book stores in my life, including Gotham Book Mart (closed 2007) and Urban Center Books (closed 2010) in New York City. Square Books in Oxford, Mississippi. William Stout Architectural Books in San Francisco. Closer to home, I have fond memories of visiting McIntyre & Moore – first in Cambridge and later in Somerville. Wordsworth Books in Harvard Square (where I worked for a time). Avenue Victor Hugo on Newbury Street (now in Lee, NH). The list goes on and on.

I am pretty sure that Harvard Book Store is the book store I have spent the most time in over the years. Glad it is still with us! This book store is dangerously close to my Compass office:). It's hard for me to walk by without walking in.

I have fond memories of attending an in store reading and book signing here with Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell (1948 - 2015).  He could not have been more generous  with his time on that day.

Day or night, Harvard Book Store draws a crowd. There's nothing quite like being in a great book store.

Meet me at Harvard Book Store!
