What are the different types of roofing materials?
The most common types of roofing materials in residential real estate are
Asphalt shingles
Rubber (for flat roofs)
Slate and tile
Wood shakes and cedar shingles
Metal
In Cambridge and Somerville, asphalt shingle roofs are most common for pitched roofs. Most of the flat roofs here are made of rubber.
